Meri Rail - Portraits of the Indian Railway

10/3/2008 - 10/13/2008, Centre for Photography as an Art Form, Piramal Gallery, NCPA, Nariman Point, Mumbai

This photography exhibition by Gerry Troyna is based on the Indian railways. The Indian railway is a vast and well oiled machine that keeps the world's largest democracy alive and kicking and well connected. Millions of people contribute, often unseen, towards its smooth functioning, but elude our attention because they are a daily sight. This show of photographs attempts to place these unsung heroes centre stage, whether it's a face in the crowd or the blur of a uniform.
